APA is 100 Days . on the Web

APA – Dakar (Senegal) Set up on the net last 16 th February, the first product of the African Press Agency (APA), its news service, rounds this Friday, its 100 th day on the web.

Neither jubilation! Nor self-satisfaction! It is simply a stage to emphasise. To please the many friends of an agency which from the start is bearing the ambitions of its initiators, the high expectations of its colleagues, and the mountains of hope of net surfers having Africa at heart.

It is then just a tag, for posterity and which featuring could have even been neglected, here at the headquarters in Dakar and at its Network level, if it was not for the good omen with which it coincides within about a day, that is the celebration on Thursday 25 th May of the 43rd anniversary of Africa Day, date of creation of the OAU now AU (African Union).

Casual? No! Nothing more than the happy medium of a stage we simply want typical, on the long journey that awaits this new jewel of world communication.

APA, founded with its own agenda and asserting its own personality before all its predecessors, , has all along these

first 100 days assembled, with the same motivation, its first Human, Physic and Technological Resources in the service of Africans in particular and all countries in the South as a whole.

Also 100 days of test and assessment, which your criticism and relevant suggestions very judiciously adjusted. 100 days of setting up and consolidating a network which is already large with 33 correspondents in 29 countries of which 26 African. 100 days of bilingual production which went from level zero to about sixty News per day.

Do not doubt about it, the best is yet to come. And this compels to say no more. So that, every morning, the surprise will be more and more pleasant…

Africa is so much in need of that!...

Surrounded by a widely disguised false moroseness, but maintained on a daily basis by Words, Image and Sound, commissioned, interpreted and served by others, Africans here and in the Diaspora are so in need of it!....

They are so much yearning for it that APA, at this stage of its development, can only have the instinct of a well-digger… Yes! Of news of course! Nothing but Pictures! Only real video Images! Unaltered News, Images and Sound, which do not detract from neither reality and nor truth.
