Ethiopian Ministry charges 135 companies over tax evasion

Ethiopia’s Ministry of Revenues said it has taken measures on 135 companies that have allegedly committed $492 million tax evasion.

The suspected organizations include wholesalers, distributors and first-level contractors, it was learned. Some of the companies failed to issue sales receipt and declared bankruptcy falsely, the ministry claimed.

According to the ministry, 105 employees of the companies have been detained and 64 of them charged.Investigation is being carried out on more companies in connection with tax evasion, the ministry on said Thursday in a statement.
