Burkinabe Foreign minister nominated to head UN,AU mediation in Darfur

The Burkinabe Foreign minister, Djibril Bassolet, was nominated Saturday as the joint UN-AU mediator for Darfur, reliable sources told APA here.
The decision was made during the closed door meeting of the AU Executive Council that is continuing its activities at the Egyptian seaside resort of Sharm el Sheikh.
The African Union and the United Nations have decided two years ago to jointly look for a solution to the Darfur crisis and the nomination of Djibril Bassole is the concrete expression of that strategy for the resolution of the crisis, sources in Sharm el Sheikh disclosed.
