African gender ministers endorse declaration to empower women
 

APA Banjul(The Gambia) The African Ministers Responsible for Gender and Women’s Affairs late Friday evening in Banjul endorsed a declaration affirming their commitment to focus their actions on promoting the sustainable economic development of women.

The ministers agreed to ensure and reinforce the rights of women and their right to access to timely and relevant information, training, credit, land and control of productive resources.

According to the declaration, the ministers committed themselves to the economic empowerment of women through poverty reduction, employment creation, and protection and use of communication strategy by promoting entrepreneurship.

The ministers also committed themselves to create employment opportunities for women through skills and business development, and enhanced employability ; and improving the agricultural productivity of rural women by providing them with advanced and appropriate technologies.
