APA-Kigali (Rwanda)
Ugandan golf team Saturday took charge of the ongoing regional Rwanda open competitions in both amateur and professional categories at the Kigali Golf Club, APA notes here.
Rwandan President Paul Kagame is expected to preside over the closing ceremony on Sunday.
Vincent ‘Araali’ Byamukama, 22, from Uganda continued with his one-man show at the Rwanda Air-sponsored Rwanda Open with a steady round of two-under 70 for an overall aggregate of 143 after two days of competition.
Byamukama’s round put him five strokes ahead of the elite chasing pack with still one day left to play.
Closely following Byamukama is fellow Uganda Stephen Kasaija who shot level par 72 on Saturday for an aggregate of 148 but the real threat here is being posed by Rwandans Olivier Munyaneza who shares the second spot with Kasaija and youthful Davis Kashaka who lies in the fifth place with an aggregate of 161.
David Akope, who shot an awesome five under 67 on day two, enjoys a three-shot lead over the ‘much feared’ Richard Ainley who is still basking in the glory of winning the Shs20m utl Uganda Open two months ago.
