Egyptian ambassador to Algeria returns home for consultation

APA- Cairo (Egypt) Egyptian ambassador to Algeria Abdel Aziz Seif El-Nasr has returned home late on Saturday evening for consultation on the background of the recent reported violence against Egyptians in Sudan and Algeria, APA learns here.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry had summoned the Algerian Ambassador to Egypt on Thursday and informed his country’s deep resentment over the attacks on Egyptian citizens.

Meanwhile, Egypt Air has decided to form a technical committee to determine the size of damages and losses in the company’s office in Algiers in order to demand compensation from the insurance company.

The Egyptian airline requested from Algerian authorities to allow additional flights to transport Egyptians working in Algerian to their homeland.

About 377 Egyptians had returned home from Algeria on Thursday and Friday.

They confirmed that hundreds of Egyptians were waiting in the airport in Algeria on the hope of returning to Egypt directly or via third country.

Egypt beat Algeria 2-0 last week Saturday in the combined 2010 World Cup and African Cup of Nations qualifiers, forcing a playoff match that Algeria won (1-0) on Wednesday in Khartoum, Sudan.

Tension between the nationals of both countries has been rising even before Saturday’s match.
